Anyone have good ideas for food for my daughters 1st bday? I'm a working mom and don't have alot of time to cook/prepare. I scheduled the party for 1pm so that (by social standards) I won't have to provide a full meal. But I would like some kid and adult friendly snacks. Kids ages will range from 8 mo.-13yrs. The theme for the party is "spring" (think: flowers, bugs %26amp; butterflies) If the weather is really nice we'd like to possibly BBQ some stuff as well. Not steaks/burgers/hot dogs, but maybe some appetizers/hors d'oeuvres... any ideas?
Food/snack ideas for 1st birthday....?
Get the cake at the bakery. Maybe finger sandwiches, cookies, punch (orange sherbet and ginger ale are an excellent choice), a cheese platter with crackers and a relish tray with carrots, celery, broccoli with an onion vegetable dip or just plain ranch. Just about everything I have listed can be purchased through a grocery store deli/bakery or in the cookie aisle. The finger sandwiches are easy to make a few hours before guest arrive. If you want to grill out you could do shish kabobs. Prepare them the night before and place in the fridge with marinade. You can use chicken or stew meat. Easy marinade is a bottle of your favorite Italian dressing. If you want an easy sweet kabob use chunks of pineapple and fresh blueberries and marinade in maple syrup and serve with vanilla ice cream. For table decorations check out your local party or craft store for lady bugs, bugs, and butterflies.
Below are a few websites with a few ideas to use for decorations for the table.
