Food ideas for a 1st birthday party...?

Anyone have good ideas for food for my daughters 1st bday? I'm a working mom and don't have alot of time to cook/prepare. I scheduled the party for 1pm so that (by social standards) I won't have to provide a full meal. But I would like some kid and adult friendly snacks. Kids ages will range from 8 mo.-13yrs. The theme for the party is "spring" (think: flowers, bugs %26amp; butterflies) If the weather is really nice we'd like to possibly BBQ some stuff as well. Not steaks/burgers/hot dogs, but maybe some appetizers/hors d'oeuvres... any ideas?

I would axe the bbq-ing. People may expect a meal if they see you with the bbq. I would go with deli meat and cheese trays (cut to bite size). Cracker trays, fruit with yogurt dip, veggies with dip, maybe a pickle tray. Finger sandwiches would be good also but require a little more prep time. That way you are staying on the healthy side of things, providing baby friendly finger foods, fun dipping foods for the toddlers, and it's all food that an adult would enjoy snacking on also!
Reply:Breast milk.
Reply:bagel pizzas
Reply:monkey organs, pooh, monkeys, lmnop, now i kno my 123's next time won't you, halleluah, dirt, and fat joe, plus eggs.
Reply:mmm mexican food is always the best way to go for a birthday party.
Reply:Jello blocks are always a hit, rice crispy treats, fruit trays, veggie trays w/dip are always easy and everyone likes them.
Reply:On my daughters b day i took ritz crackers and used spring cookie cutters and took different colrs of chesse cut out along with salami slices cut in shapes and decorated crackers. also pudding cups take vanilla pudding mix 1/2 container with cool whip. crush up gram crackers or cookies (pink yellow and white animal cookies) and place them in bottom of clear lil plastic cup, add vanilla pudding mixture and top w reserved cool whip and add spirinklles or let them assemble them selfs. Another idea is to slice up a huge fruit tray and have lil scewers to build their own fruit cabob place on bbq i suggest watermelon and pineapple and cantalope when it cooks just a lil it turns nice n sweet. an appetizer is make pancakes then take them out on large plate, have icing sprinkles coconut and candies in lil bowls let kids cut out spring shapes with the cookie cutters then decorate the cakes with spring stuff liek bunnies and such (hint use premade pancake mix that just aquirres liquid and add apple juice in substitute of water) Little simple sandwhiches cut up using spring type cookie cutters are also a hit.
Reply:A pretty fruit tray would be great. Also, finger sandwiches and chips and dip. A salad would be good too.
Reply:baby food and breast milk
Reply:Why bbq if your not going to make any real food on it?Generally people come to parties ready to eat. So you might want to do some hot dogs. Their cheap and so is all the condiments for them. Then just get a veggie tray (although it is cheaper to do it yourself and doesn't take hardly any time at all) and get some chips and cheese puffs.
Reply:Try the deli counter at your local supermarket. Ask them to dice up small bits of different kinds of cheese and various meats. Even see if they will soft cook different veggies and fruits so that everyone can eat the same thing. Provide soft taco shells so the adults can make wraps with the different cheese meat combos. Offer different sauces so the wrap won't be dry.

Offer crepes so that people can make a fruit wrap. Have fruit dips for the sauce to spread in the crepe before being sprinkled with the fruit.

Then with the baby, you can actually spread the meat, veggies, and fruit in her high chair tray and she gets to eat the same thing.
Reply:You can make little flower pots filled with crushed Oreo cookie "soil" with gummy worms and a flower stuck in each one. Try a butterfly birthday cake. You can make short pigs in a blanket as the body of butterflies or worms. Use red licorice for antenna.
Reply:Chips may work. Also some muffins or maybe some bologna sandwitch's. I hope your daughter has a nice birthday party. Good luck! ;)
Reply:Oh goodness.

I'm pregnant and you mentioned hot dogs.

Now I SO want a hot dog.

*runs off crying*
Reply:Some empanadas, nachos and dip, fruit platter or veggie platter with dip. The little pizza bites. Whatever you feed your daughter for snacks is always best. Mild Buffalo wings and Spicy buffalo wings
Reply:I ordered pizza for my sons bday. It was so easy for me and who dos'nt like pizza! Exspecially kids!
Reply:breast milk-lol
