How would you recomend me to celebrate my Mother's 40th birthday and what should I get her?

Soon on September 8th, it%26#039;s going to b my mom%26#039;s 40th birthday. I%26#039;m not sure what to get her (I mean it%26#039;s obvious I%26#039;ll b getting her flowers and cake). My mother doesn%26#039;t have friends here in America and most of her relatives are living in Israel. There are no relatives here, except me, my dad and my sister. So sadly there%26#039;s just the four of us to celebrate it. **I live in Brooklyn, NY.

An option of flying to Israel together and celebrating my mother%26#039;s birthday wouldn%26#039;t b a bad idea if we had enough money. However we don%26#039;t have that much money. So please... suggest what you can and except for those 2 points of %26quot;thanks%26quot; you might get 10 extra points include a great %26quot;THANK YOU%26quot; from the bottom of my heart.

How would you recomend me to celebrate my Mother%26#039;s 40th birthday and what should I get her?
Is your family Jewish? If your mom hasn%26#039;t any friends ...she must not go to Temple ....

Call the local Synagogue ... they will know how to get a little Israel into you mother%26#039;s birthday party.
Reply:Well, First off, Flowers, especially to your mom 40 birthday...

You shouldnt go to the resturant because its a tradition that you dont celebrate your 4th UBILEII in a resturant...

Well, also buy her cake and candles, if you can get candles that look like numbers, i mean, candle in the form of 4 and one in a form of 0. If you cant, buy simple candles and place them on a cake that when you look from above you%26#039;ll see 40 - thats really nice...

Well, if you can cook something it would be great too... :)

Well, buy some balloons - who knows... I dont know your mom%26#039;s style, but well, try to behave like a very warm family...

Best wishing...

P.S: Dont forget to wash the dishes ;)
Reply:Go out to a nice Jewish deli. Adelmans, or Avenue T. Buy a Carvel cake, candles, go home, give her flowers and a card, take a picture and have a piece of Fudgy the Whale.

When she%26#039;s fifty, you%26#039;ll be able to afford to take her back to Israel, or better, Boca Raton.
Reply:What you should do is make the best of her b-day as you can.

If you have family there invite them over and ask or if you can cook then cook her fav foods and have everyone come over for a celebration for your mother. That would be the best thing that you could do for her, being that you are strapped for $$. Best of wishes to you and your mom.
