Today is my birthday, and my boyfriend.....?

ok heres the situation, my boyfriend is older and may be stressed a bit, he never will out and out say he loves me, but has texted it. We are together about 4 out of 7 days, for the past year. he is not emotional, but in the past tried to make an effort once and brought a flower to my work, now if i complain he brings up that one instance. am i being a baby? i mean its my birthday and he gets me a gift card to get my nails done and didnt even come see me today, he gave me that yesterday. my manager even came and gave me a card that had some meaning to it. why would he just get me something soo impersonal? i mean a few words would mean more than my nails!

Men can be insensitive sometimes and they don%26#039;t even notice. He may have thought he gave you the best gift ever. He also may feel that since he gave you your gift early that he does not have to come see you today. Guys just don%26#039;t get it sometimes. The best thing to do is to flat out tell him you feel so that next time he has no excuse for being a jerk. Be sure to let him know that you appreciate when he does try though. Reply:Happy Birthday! You%26#039;re bf might not have done as much as expected, but at least he did something for you. He thought of you. Maybe he didn%26#039;t know what to get you and thought you might like your nails done. You should show them to him when you get them done and go on and on about them. Don%26#039;t make him feel bad for the gift he got you. That%26#039;s kind of selfish. There%26#039;s a really good book called 5 love languages. He probably just has a different way of expressing his love than you do. Maybe he isn%26#039;t big about saying it or giving elaborate speeches to you. But just writing a simple note or text to tell you he cares. Not all guys are good at that stuff. And they don%26#039;t always know what we expect from them romantically. You can%26#039;t have it exactly the way you want it. Maybe he%26#039;s really affectionate and cuddles with you but he doesn%26#039;t always get you flowers or a card with a page long poem. Take what you can get. If it%26#039;s not enough to make you happy just tell him or find someone who treats you the way you dream of. People can%26#039;t usually change the natural way that they express love. Be more understanding. And next time tell him what kind of birthday you had in mind. Or hint at what you like. Guys can%26#039;t read our minds ya know. There%26#039;s another really good book %26quot;101 ways to be romantic%26quot;. Get him something like that and he%26#039;ll never run out of ideas. :)

Chances are, he%26#039;s not going to change his m.o. - so you need to decide whether you need to be constantly swept off your feet (I hope you%26#039;re a reasonable weight) or whether there are enough other lovable aspects to this guy that makes you smile and feel warm and fuzzy inside.
