Husband wants to know what I want for my birthday.......???

I don%26#039;t have a whole lot in mind. My birthday is Feb. 9th. The only thing I can think of that I really want would be diamond earrings. (I don%26#039;t have any nice jewelry besides my wedding ring and engagement ring, and they are both pretty simple). We have a 5 month old that I stay home with, so he makes the only income. Enough to live comfortably, and save a little, but the earrings I want are $400. I can live happily without them though. We are getting a lot of tax money back, so we can afford them. I just feel like it might be too much to ask for still! Last year we were pregnant and BROKE!!!! He switched jobs and such.....but he made me a cake and got a card and flowers, I was more than happy with that. But $400 diamond earrings? Too frivolous or not?

Husband wants to know what I want for my birthday.......???
go ahead you obliviously deserve it just ask!!
Reply:It%26#039;s a wonderful privilege and gift to you and your baby that you are able to be home. Consider that, and whatever card, flowers, etc your husband gets as a gift of love for you and your child. If you REALLY, REALLY want the earrings, find a way to earn the $$. You%26#039;re here on YA, which means you could make some $$ at home, on the computer. If you want it, you can find a way. Contrary to the popular song, Diamonds are NOT a girl%26#039;s best friend, they are symbols of a girl%26#039;s best friend. Your husband and your baby are your diamonds, the jewelry is just a symbol.
Reply:400 dollars for earring is insane dont evne think about it XD
Reply:if he asked what you wanted then tell him what you want, but talk to him and see if thats too much. otherwise ask how much he is thinking of spending before you tell him to get an idea of what price range he has in mind
Reply:ask and possibly say he can add them as a mother%26#039;s day/birthday gift so its a two-fer and he%26#039;s off the hook for mom%26#039;s day!
Reply:tell him and see what happens
Reply:I remember once about 20 years ago my wife wanted a little gold bracelet for $400.

Since then, the cheapest thing on the jewelery list has been re-setting a 3.9 carat diamond in a new setting.

Now the average diamond %26#039;toy%26#039; runs 3 - 10 thousand.

Even if he is scraping by, he should try and find a way to get them, since you sound like a true sweetheart and a %26#039;keeper%26#039; of a girl. :-D
Reply:try to get cheaper ones! or ask him 4 something siple, like a gift card, or ask him for a homemade gift! i love it when people bake me cakes! he could get u a rose? that would be romantic! just keep in mind that ur 5 month old might rip off the earrings, or drool on them, so make sure he isn%26#039;t near them if u ge t them! so i don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s too frivolous!
Reply:Your husband could get you a mansion for your birthday and still not make you happy....that is, unless he%26#039;s attentive, loving, and plans the day on your terms. You can always get the jewelry later, but the choice is ultimately yours.
